O'Hare Irish Dance Ohio - Promo Video

At the request of Abby's Irish dance instructor, I again edited together a "promotional" video using some footage a couple of the parents shot at the Akron First Night performance on New Year's Eve night. They normally link this video to their website http://www.oharedanceohio.com/ to showcase the dance studio recruiting and to generate interest for possible performances throughout the year. Although the video is uploaded to YouTube, I have embedded it below as well.

Mustangs Defeat Penguins

Today Andrew (#97) and the Strongsville Mustangs took on the Canton-Akron Penguins in a matchup of two teams that had identical records and were tied for 5th in the standings. Unlike last week's game, the Mustangs came out ready to play. In the end, the Penguins could not stop the flurry of shots from the Mustangs, including an exciting fall-away goal by Andrew (highlighted below). The 5-1 win puts the Mustangs back into a tie for 4th place and keeps their playoff hopes alive.

Father & Son Ski Day

Andrew has been doing Friday night ski club again this year (with Mom, his friend and his friend's Mom), but Dad hasn't had a chance to ski yet. So this morning we went out and had a Father & Son ski day. We got a couple good hours in at Boston Mills and then headed over to Brandywine (owned by same resort) for another couple hours. Andrew is getting to be a very good skier. Here are a few short clips I took with Abby's Flip camera.

Mustangs Lose to Maple Leafs

Early this morning Andrew and the Strongsville Mustangs played their second game against the Geauga Maple Leafs (we beat them the last time 4-1). Despite having the home ice, the Mustangs couldn't seem to shake off the morning sleepiness today. We couldn't generate much offense at all, and we gave up 5 penalties which led to a 0-2 loss. Here are a few not-very-exciting clips from the game.

Festival of Nations

Today Abby and the O'Hare Irish Dance girls performed at the Akron Civic Theatre as part of the Festival of Nations. There were six cultural on-stage performance and a variety of international booths and food for intermissions. Of course, the grand finale was reserved for the O'Hare girls ...

Ice Skating on Lake Frogerick

The ice on Lake Frogerick was finally thick enough (and not covered with too much snow) where we were able to go skating today. It was a beautiful, cold day with the sun shining and no wind.

Hockey Double-Header

This weekend Andrew and the Strongsville Mustangs had two hockey games: The was a home ice rematch against the first place Winterhurst Warriors; and the second was an away contest against the last place Cleveland Heights Tigers. The Mustangs gave the Warriors a run for their money, but fell short 0-2. Against the Tigers, the Mustangs were able to grind out a 1-0 victory. Andrew (#97) had some nice shots on goal in both games - and even sat in the penalty box for a "coach misconduct" call in the first game. The Mustangs are now 3-5-2 and are in either 3rd or 4th place with 8 points in the league standings (their kind of slow updating them).

A Late Christmas Concert

Yesterday evening Andrew performed at his rescheduled school Choirs Concert. His original date was canceled due to a snow storm back in December. Dad was out of town for work this week, but mom attended and captured the following video footage.

First Night Akron 2011

Just as she did last year, Abby again danced at the First Night Akron celebration (two back-to-back performances). Mom took our guests, Susanne, Craig, Myranda and Ellie to watch the performance while Dad and Andrew stayed home to prepare some snacks for New Year's Eve. At the conclusion of the performance, Ellie even got to dance with the help and instruction of the O'Hare Irish Dance girls. Here is some video footage that Mom shot while at the event.
